Credits are used to generate speech. The cost depends on the voice model: Basic voices (Piper) cost 1 credit per 1,000 characters, Standard voices (VITS) cost 10 credits per 1,000 characters, Premium voices (Bark) cost 25 credits per 1,000 characters, and Ultra voices (StyleTTS2, Tortoise) cost 50 credits per 1,000 characters.
Credit packs are one-time purchases that never expire, which suits occasional users and one-off projects. Subscriptions give you credits that refresh every month, plus extras such as more voice cloning slots and API access.
You get the same monthly credits at a lower rate, and the whole year is charged in one payment on the day you subscribe. The per-month figure on the card is what the yearly total works out at; the yearly total is printed directly underneath it so there is no surprise on the statement.
Credit pack credits never expire and stay in your account until you use them. Subscription credits refresh every month and do not roll over, but you can always add a credit pack on top of a subscription.
